Nikon 18mm 2.8d

I've been looking to get lenses to cover the wider focal range. I will likely get the 24mm 1.8g as it lines up perfectly with the 35mm and 50mm (near 1.5x focal gaps) but I also need something to go even wider. I haven't heard much about the 18mm and it's a great focal length, the 20mm 1.8g is superb but a little too close to the 24mm in focal. I intend to use them at narrower apertures for deep dof and across the frame sharpness (Probably between f5.6 and f8). Is the 18mm 2.8d any good and if it isn't what's a good alternative between 15-19mm? I'm not aware of many autofocus rectilinear primes in that range, the 16-35 is decent but drops off around 24mm.

(this is for usage on a d810)
