Re: E-M5 II + Capture + Arduino + PC. How?

Thank you for your recent input.

I am running my E-M5 II from a PC with a Python program issuing commands to an Arduino running GRBL. At the appropriate event, the Arduino sends a focus then a shutter command using relays to ground the appropriate USB wires on a cannibalised manual remote shutter lead.

However, I should like to use the excellent Olympus Capture software to set up then monitor the process - which means splitting the lead between the Arduino and the PC outputs. So I asked Olympus customer service (normally very helpful) which connectors do what on their USB camera socket. But they would not tell me because it is not "normal" camera use, except that dpreview has a lot of normal people like me. Can anyone advise?

An alternative solution would be to use the Python program or the Arduino in order to trigger Capture and issue a focus-shutter command through the intact USB lead. Is there a way to hack Capture?

Set your camera to wifi.

Use a laptop to connect to the wifi of the camera.

Open a browser and navigate to:

http://192.168.0.10/get_commandlist.cgi

Now you get a commandlist.

You can retrieve images.

Browse to http://192.168.0.10/get_imglist.cgi?DIR=/DCIM , or try

http://192.168.0.10/get_screennail.cgi?DIR=/DCIM/100OLYMP/<filename>.ORF

It also has commands to operate focus and shutter.
