Olympus 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS Optical Formula vs Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM

In the other threads there was a lot of speculation about the optical formula of the Olympus 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS from a cut diagram and its similarities to the Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM DSLR lens. The diagram was at an angle and made it hard to tell, although some people (correctly) pointed out differences in the two rear elements.

Same diagram from DP Review gallery.

Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM page with optical formula:

https://www.sigma-global.com/en/lenses/cas/product/contemporary/c_100_400_5_63/features/#features02

Now the four-thirds website has the standard lens diagram for the Olympus 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS to compare:

https://www.four-thirds.org/en/microft/telephoto.html#i_100-400mm_f050-063_is_olympus

I did an overlay of the two designs.

It is obvious the rear three elements are different. All 3 are smaller in the Olympus. And the 2nd to last one has an obviously different shape from the Sigma. So technically a different lens design, although quite similar.

As for special glass elements, the 4 labeled as ED lens by Olympus corresponds to the 4 labeled as SLD by Sigma. Olympus also has 2 Super HR and 2 HR which Sigma does not label as special, but that can just be a labeling difference (does not necessarily point to different glass).
