Could be the batteries, I believe the Spotmatic takes a 1.35 volt mercury battery, what battery is in it? Replacement batteries are often 1.5 volts so that could be doing it. There is the Wein Cell replacement but it doesn't last as long as the original cells (they worked almost forever). If the proper battery is being used then the camera will need a CLA focusing on the electronics, which could be iffy with a camera that age. If you are OK compensating with the ISO setting, I'd go with that. Check the battery first, if it is an original it could be work out.
