Much of the 28th century concept of "composition" comes from 19th century Japanese art, such as the prints of Hokusai and Hiroshige.

Paintings by Shibata Zeshin suggest ways to place an isolated subject in the rectangle of a picture:

usually off centre, but you can put your subject dead centre if you want to make a point. In that case I would either give it a huge amount of space, or crowd it in to give a claustrophobic effect.

There are millions of possible compositions.
