600 f11 + R5, image upscaled 2x then cropped

Per Johnnycal's suggestion, here's my original shot, upscaled 2x in PS and then cropped.

Regarding the handling of the lens: it is light though awkwardly long. I did not find f11 a problem.

I find shooting a fixed lens at this distance a bit easier (though the moon makes it a non-problem) to become lost in space. I'd prefer to zoom out and then zoom in once I know what I'm focusing on.

Tried again today using high speed shooting of some planes near a local airport. If your first shot is in focus, the rest of the series will likely be, too. If your first shot is mis-focused, the whole series will be, too.

I find the view blackout disconcerting, particularly when following a moving object. Haven't done enough reading, yet, to understand under what conditions the viewfinder freezes the first frame vs. true, continuous live view. The hit rate was very high using continuous high speed shooting but fast moving objects were a challenge to keep in the desired portion of the frame.

the 600, at least for me, is "good enough" though hardly the last word in sharpness or detail. I'm quite interested in the 100-500 + 1.4x extender.
