I've been having a great time this summer in my garden doing "field" focus stacking with my M6ii. My technique is to use back button focus to set a starting point, nudge the focus ring in just a hair (usually works out to be about 4 frames) to make sure I do in fact start out at the closest point, then shoot away. If the final pic isn't beyond where I wanted to end, I add more steps and re-shoot.

I delete the frames I don't want in post. It's been working like a charm. I have some examples posted in the macro forum.

^^^this advice was very helpful, thanks Ken!

I was missing focus on the the first few frames even though I was using spot focussing and even zooming in. Turning off focus on shutter button and using back button focus then manually dialling back gave me a full stack i could work with. In Helicon focus I was able to manually set a start and end point using live view on the phone with focus peaking so it wasn't an issue. All is good now!!

Still being amazed by the M6II with every use. An amazing camera for the price.

+1 I do basically the same thing by leaning back just a bit before shooting the burst.
