EOS R w/ Adapted Lenses

I've never owned a ML body, but I'm thinking the EOS R will be a substantial upgrade from my old 5D. Two things would be helpful to confirm before I take the plunge.

First, is the EVF quality sufficient to achieve critical focus using a manual focus normal lens with a large aperture,  say  f/1.2 ? And can good focus with such a narrow DOF be accomplished without zooming in?

Second, let's say I attach an adapted, fully manual lens and monitor the scene through the EVF. Do I understand correctly that as the aperture of the lens is changed, the body compensates so that the EVF brightness remains the same? IOW, f/2.0 and f/11.0 will look the same, other than the DOF?

Thanks!

Jack
