That's actually very interesting. I did the same last night! We could hardly see the comet at all with the naked eye, it was so weak.

Then I took out my X-T20. Surprisingly, the comet was clearly visible in the viewfinder! I was also able to focus manually. This was unexpected (I havennot done astro yet) and made me really happy.

+1 for the exact same experience.

Could barely see it with the naked eye. Probably due in part to staring at an LCD which prevented my eyes from adjusting, but I could look up and see Ursa just fine...

Hoped to use my 55-200 to capture a close-up, but it was too darn slow (4.8 @ 200mm). Ended up using the 35mm 1.4 instead and although the comet rendered much smaller, it produced a far more pleasing image.
