Hmm, works on mine. I'll have to think about that...

I noticed that when the top dials are set manually, and the exposure compensation dial is set to 'C', the front dial in effect 'adjusts the aperture', but is really performing an exposure compensation using the only remaining third of the exposure triangle, the aperture. This could still possibly satisfy my use case.
