Plan to spend one day in Mackinac island and then drive to Marquette and use it as a base camp, staying in a hotel and travelling from there.

A lot of pano opportunities and a lot of woods on trails. So the 24-70 makes sense. The 240 would of course be good for wildlife. If that’s not your thing, take your brightest lens. If you want to be able to capture an image of a bear or moose or deer, you’d want 240 available.

Don't know where your from or how familiar you may be with the UP but:

Take the drive up to Tahquamenon Falls on your way from the Island to Marquette. Don’t miss the lower falls either for a lot of fun swimming in the river. Pt. Iroquois Lighthouse isn’t far from there either.

Marquette puts you about an hour from Munising, which is the west end of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Book your boat tour or kayaking now if you can. Just be careful with the kayaking. Remember, people surf on this “Lake” when the weather is rough. The National Lakeshore is run by the National Park service. Lots of great hikes.

About an hour south of Munising is a clear natural spring that you can take a pull raft out on. No swimming and no other boats allowed. Kitch-iti-kipi . Note the fish and bottom clear as day. 40 ft deep.

Of course lots of smaller waterfall hikes, copper mine tours, for a longer drive (2 1/2 or 3 hours) along M-26 near Copper Harbor is the Jampot Bakery run by a Monastery along the Lake Superior shore. Amazing baked goods and Thimbleberry Jam.
If you like roads and the highway system, US 41 runs from Miami, FL and terminates just past Copper Harbor. Nice sign at the end to take your picture by.

Take US 2 along Lake Michigan back for an amazing scenic drive.
