Agreed. It also seems to stop down slightly better than the primes, at least according to LensTip (character and non-quantifiables aside).

My dream hiking combo is a 10-24 for landscapes, and a 16mm 1.4 for pseudo-macro detail shots along the trail. But of course, I bought the 14mm instead, and now that's harder than hell to give up
