Ted,

Great choice, I think you're going to enjoy it quite a bit. I found an unbeatable deal on a lightly used GX9 so I traded some older gear and took home the little Panasonic (my wife is petite, so struggles with the Sony full frame and Minolta glass; I'd been looking for something small and stabilized for run-and-gun video, which I'm doing more of lately).

The GX9 has the same sensor and most of the features of the G9 (though no 6K video, which I would have liked). The body is tiny, though, and the lenses weigh next to nothing. I got the 12-60 and Panleica 15 f1.7, will probably add the 100-400 for a great tiny travel kit.

The initial results are *very* positive. The micro 4/3 sensor has come into its own, and the 5-axis stabilization in combination with OS is nothing short of remarkable. I've gotten handheld footage while walking and riding in the car that look as if they'd been shot on a gimbal. Handheld shots sometimes can be over 2 seconds, but only if I steady myself on something and take multiple shots. I shoot raw, so color isnt much of an issue, but it does look like Panasonic have upped their game.

Bottom line? GREAT traveling companion for a Merrill -- throw it in a small bag and you've got resolution and pop with one, great video, processing speed, post focus, stabilization, pop up flash and battery life with the other.

Have fun and stay safe!

Scot

ps Since this is an OT thread, I'm adding a single shot. It was shot in raw, tweaked lightly, and saved in PHotoshop as a

A scene I've shot endless times, so it's a great real world test scene for new gear
