Unless you're using a fast wide angle lens, you'll probably want to take multiple short exposures and stack them.

I am new to astrophotography. Mostly I have done Northern Lights. Why does using a fast wide-angle not require muliple shots and then stacking them?

The Comet is over 20 degrees long, you need a "wide" lens...~100mm on an APS-c sensor..You will still want to stack, f1.8 or f4, but for the same amount of exposure time, the faster lens will gather more light...

I shoot 20" at f4, ISO 800 in bad light pollution using my tracker.....and then stack 100+ of those....
