krloz, looks like a good deal to me. Even though only "freaks" are using NX system today, the image quality of NX500/NX1 is still excellent as of 2020.
True.
The fact the NX system is "not wanted" due to its discontinuation is an advantage one should use - to get high quality camera/glass at a decent price. I've used many NX bodies in recent years, not one issue so far.
I am seeing this in the local used market: great samsung glass at very affordable prices. Not wanted gear can be a blessing indeed as long as you know where you are getting into and don't have the expectation to recover part of your investment by reselling it.
My favorite lens is 30/F2 by far, such a gem. The rare lenses (10mm, 85, 50-150S) are sometimes available at ebay, you just need to be patient to find a glass at (almost) new condition.
That is on my list. It would make the NX500 truly pocketable. On the other hand I am not to excited about the 16mm and 20mm. Another one that I do not plan on buying is the 18-200mm. All reviews seems to be very unfavorable to the IQ it can produce.
Original Samsung batteries are still available, specifically from Korean markets.
Any experience in using after market ones? I can find plenty locally, but I am always reticent.
12-24mm had metal mount, but was not fastened well enough so the mount tended to break (too short mount screws, too little number of screws - just a major engineering fault).
So I guess I have to hope to get a good copy then. I am really excited about everything I have read in terms of sharpness and was one of the deciding factors to considering e feeling in the NX system
Today there are many cameras outperforming the NX500/NX1, but hey the NX cameras were released more than five years ago. Side by side the picture quality is still one of the top players in APS-C pool.
I beleive the price/performance is unmatched from everything I have read so far and the samples I have downloaded.
I also love the feeling shooting with Samsung camera - no one even knows Samsung has ever made cameras even though Samsung is more known its flat-screen devices and smartphones, the camera is a rare technical weirdo, maybe like Sigma or Ricoh.
I have a soft spot for for underdog/unwanted cameras, I admit. Still using my Ricoh GXR with M mount to this day.
I currently do have NX1, second time. I had it before and sold it thinking the Canons and Nikons and Fujis are better. Turned back to NX1 and currently cannot see a replacement for it in the next following years. Oh, Fuji's glass is of course a class of its own.
Sure, Fuji was high on my list (asI do have a X100F), but their quality glass is much more expensive than the ones I can get from samsung
Never used a 85/1.4 (in my wishlist), but reading the previous replies it seems like a serious, professional portrait lens. At the price you mentioned, it should be a good buy.
Yep. I am still making up my mind on that. Seems to be an epic piece of glass.
Do not bother with 20-50mm, the glass is below the NX primes and 2.8 zooms.
Thanks! I am convinced the 16-50 PZ is sharper and alsohalso greater range, not to mention OIS.
I hope this helps!
Helped a lot! Thanks
