Night games have bad lighting like many indoor sports. You need F2.8. However soccer has a huge field so you need reach also. Personally I would get the 70-200/2.8 to give you a bit of flexiblity. Also finding the right spot to stand and waiting for the action to come to you. I did this a while back for lacrosse but it was mostly day time so I used the 100-400.

By the way action coming towards you is not moving as much so you can use a slower shutter if required.
