New to Fuji and trying to decide between X-T3 and X-T4
Jul 16, 2020
I'm looking for some thoughts from anybody who has used both of these models and reasons you prefer one over the other. My girlfriend has an X-T3 and I love it. I'm pretty new to photography, only having some experience with a canon rebel T3 10 years ago when I took a photography class. But I love using her X-T3 and it has sparked my interest in photography again, and I'm ready to get one of my own.
Things about the X-T3 I think I like better...the screen is the only thing I can really think of. I don't want to have to flip the screen out to the side to angle it for low angle shots. I don't know if there are any other advantages beside price. Am I missing anything?
Obviously the IBIS is a big advantage on the X-T4, but how important is that to me really? I'm not sure. I do plan to buy some non-stabilized lenses. But my girlfriend has some for her X-T3 and it's perfectly useable, but yes it's easy to mess up an image with a shaky hand. Are there any disadvantages to IBIS?
Another is a better battery, I could definitely see that being a big plus. And improved autofocus, but again I feel the X-T3 is perfectly useable as it is.
As for the X-T4's flippy screen, while I really don't like the idea of having to extend it to the side for angles, I suppose it might be cool to be able to fold it in to protect it and shoot just using the EVF. Is is easy enough to adjust settings this way and access everything you need to without the screen? Or would I have to keep flipping the screen back out constantly?
One thing I read that piqued my interest was that supposedly the X-T4 is made in Japan for the USA. But I haven't been able to find any more recent comments on that, they were all from a few months ago. Is it true? That alone might make me spring for the X-T4.
Another thing I've seen people speculating about here is whether the X-T3 will continue to receive firmware updates. Maybe it just makes sense to purchase the newer model for that reason.
Thanks for your input!
