All things otherwise being equal, larger photosites should have some advantage, but that’s not the case here. The newer sensor has higher resolution, lower noise, and greater dynamic range. The X-T1 is a fine camera with great image quality, but it doesn’t have cleaner, richer color than the X-T2.

Folks with T1, T2 and T3 cameras sometimes mention the preference for the T1 'look' The T1 images do indeed look different.

While the later camera models have more impressive specs. There is undoubtedly a growing appeal for the T1. It's a steel of a deal!
