I read a lot of comment here, and I read that someone a Sony’s shooter APS-C who will not go Full Frame because of the price.

And I agree 100% with him, even if I appreciate the R system, I will stay with the M system for a long long time. Because it is affordable, light and compact (lenses and camera).

What if I were Canon for M system, I would do 3 type of camera :

1. Low cost M200 like but call M500 with LP-E17 for 300€ body only.

2. Mid cost M50 with LP-E17 & separate EVF for 600€ body only.

3. High cost M5 with LP-E17 & separate EVF & IBIS for 900€ body only.

Same batteries & same sensor & same processor for all in order to have one product so one supplier.

For M50 & M5 same body design in order to have a simple line of production, separate EVF in order to please a lot of customers, and of course flipping screen.

In terms of lenses for M systems.

Zoom part:

11-22, 15-45, 55-200 and 18-150 are good for a long time, no need to change that. Why they don’t need to design a special telephoto zoom for M system, because you can pay for the adaptor and an EF-S or EF lenses for it ^^. Also I don’t think it will sell really well. Even I would love to see an EF-M 100-300mm for it, it won’t come out.

Prime part:

22, 28macro and 32. They are good, and also no need to change. Only one small thing that is missing is an longer macro, like the rumored EF-M 62mm f/4. Because the EF-S 60 f/2.8 is kind of old.

Laowa 9mm and Samyang 12mm, it’s already out on the market, I’m not sure that Canon are willing to develop an UWA and take the risk to not sell so much.

Sigma 16mm (the almost 24mm ^^), Except for the 24mm purist, it is not essential to focus the effort to develop this kind of lenses, just to please some people ^^.

EF-M 22mm has no rival, and it is the best of his kind.

EF-M 28mm has one rival and it is the EF-S 35mm macro, but with the adaptor it is a non sense. Macro at f/3.5, it was weird at first, but it is so damn light.

EF-M 32mm has also one cheaper rival, the Sigma 30mm. But it came later in the game, and for some people who come into the M system and are in budget, they might chose the Sigma due to a cheaper price.

Sigma 56mm has also one rival the EF 50mm f/1.8 + adaptor. This one is really hard, but Canon also don’t need to develop this one.

For the rest, with the adaptor you can have a lot of option out there, even it’s heavier and expensive. But for the majority of us, all the lenses I mention is more than enough for everyday and amateur photographers. (For the price in France, every lenses I mentioned are less than 500€).

Well guys, it is just my opinion and what I want to see for Canon of course. I hope for the best for the M system.

PS: I really want to see the EF-M 62mm macro

Have a good day all of you ! It is a long week end for me and went to South of France with only my M5 and the 16mm and the 32mm !
