I am sure that Canon studies the demographics of the camera market. I am 77 years old. I am an active photographer. In fact, I now have a great deal more time to pursue my hobby than I did in earlier years. I have been using m43 cameras for 10 years. I purchased a M6ii last year to try it out. My local brick and mortar store said that if I hated it, I could bring it back in a day or two. I loved the little camera and the files that it produced. I cannot carry a camera the size of the R series with their large lenses and enjoy myself. There are many photographers, like myself, in the 60 and older range who do not want to use cell phones or carry a large brick of a camera. We are where the bulk of the camera market is.
The bulk of the camera market is retirees??? Do you have some statistical research to back up that ridiculous statement?
no kids, no mortages, endless time to travel, what do you need more?
How about simple math? In the USA, there are roughly 4 times more people in the 18-65 age group as there are over 65. Do you think that all of the retirees are buying their first ever camera at age 65? I think it is a pretty safe assumption that anyone buying a camera after age 60 also owned a camera before age 60.
I bought my first camera 35 years ago, I bought M50 last year, why do you assume that only first time buyers buy EOS M cameras?
Secondly, most of the people in the age group from 25 - 65 have mortages and people in the age group 25 - 55 have kids.
which group do you think has the greatest disposable income?
We also want IBIS. We will spend the money and it is worth it to Canon to support our market.
