How large do you really print?
1

I have sold my work now for several years at professional shows and in local galleries. On the ever so rare occasion, I have printed as large as 36x48, but the vast majority of my printing is done in house on a Epson wide format printer and professional papers like fine Art Velvet, Exhibition Fiber, Cold Press or Hot Press. The prints are produced either on:

  • 17x22 paper (16x20, 12x18, 13x19 etc) - 75% of my sales
  • 8.5x11 paper (8x10, 4x5 etc) - 25% of my sales

I shoot Olympus MFT, my work has been full page in magazines and and when selling my work I have had no customer complaints on quality or size. With good glass (i.e. pro lenses) I can achieve a 50% crop with no issue and I do very little work above ISO 3200 so noise is not an issue.

Over the years, I have stayed a MFT user due to the system size and cost for the same quality in another brand (the 300mm f4 pro for example) and I have not felt limited in my output -  so no need for a larger sensor that has more detail than my printer will resolve at the sizes I print.

Am I missing something here, what size do you normally print at?

Realistically, most of my work sits on a hard drive and never comes off. Sad.
