Highly unscientific test

Ok, as of another thread where I talked about a junk close-up lens I got for $2, I decided to compare it to a quality one - and to extension tubes.

The lighting varied and I didn't care about the exposure - but here's a brief comparision, as if you were just handed one in the field.

All (except the stacked one) shot using a 85mm lens. No cropping.

The zoomed in bud is about 15mm (0,6 inches) tall

First, the cheapo lens (or should that be called a filter?)

Very poor quality using the PHD Optics lens. Still I've come across much, much worse closeup lenses

Still, you can get somewhat creative

Canon 500D close-up lens:

Canon 500D - not as close to the subject but superior performance

Mieke extension tubes for the Z6 11+24mm

Mieke extension tubes - pretty good but more of a hassle to put on than a lens.

OK, not related to the actual test.. but here's a 70-200 2.8 + Canon 500D stacked image (mandatory droplets applied ).

Knew very little about photography when I decided to buy the awesome Nikon D70; learned quickly that this expensive camera didn't make me a good photographer.

Canon EOS 500D (EOS Rebel T1i / EOS Kiss X3) Nikon Z6
