I don’t think you’re getting much with the VRii over the Tamron.   They’re both very sharp, and will serve you well, with the Nikon probably hitting it’s AF slightly more reliably than the Tamron.  Think 90% vs 80%.

You can’t really go wrong with any of these lenses.   If you have the opportunity, maybe rent a couple and see if the focus breathing or AF consistency really effects how you shoot.   If you don’t notice a difference, go for the 3rd party option.
