The evasive blues

Sounds like an album name, it certainly is a cause for the blues for me. When I shoot bright colours with the older cameras like SD14 or 15, I see that the darkish blue (and green) tones are shown as under-exposed in SPP's histogram. The easiest and most effective remedy is to lighten up by pushing the shadows slider to the right; but this decreases the contrast and punch of the shot. What's going on here? The Quattros behave rather well in this respect. Is this due to the enlarged upper (blue) layer of the Quattro sensor? The following shots from the SD15/ 135mm Art combo are rather dull renderings of the rich colours present...
