With your input, you'll will help me and maybe others with purchasing decisions. Thanks in advance.

Looks like per Canon's own spec sheet, there are major overheating issues with cool off times and re-record restrictions in 8K and 4K modes, which would significantly reduce the video usefulness for serious videographers.

serious videographers use serious video cameras, hence the cinema eline. Not hybrid cameras.

Professional filmmakers use both. Link to Sigma fp but same principal applies to all modern mirrorless cameras.

Anecdote, not typical. The utility of pro gear, and its operators, often is what keeps it usefulness at any price point.

Did they use that for a Nolan Pic? Star wars? Michael Bay? even most TV shows? the ability to rent what you want and need and have it available in 12 local shops outweigh almost any "Hey the r5 shoots 8K" news. Their cheapness and ubiquity, and sometimes their undervalued operators, factor in more than shooting 8K.

Not so. Professional filmmakers include documentary filmmakers, music video shooters, wedding shooters, corporate work including interviews and product shots, food photography, journalism, travel and sports and a million other areas where filmmakers do paid work. Not necessarily Hollywood. That's an elitist attitude, since few of us will be screening at theaters or even Netflix, any more than you are in the press corps at the White House.
