Re: Using an M100 as a webcam

I have previously setup an M3 as a webcam but after an April 2020 zoom update the workaround no longer functions. It may still work on Skype and Facetime.

You need 2 pieces of software and the correct cable.

  1. Install Camera Live.
  2. Open the 'camera live' folder, it should automatically put the 'camera live' icon on the desktop.
  3. Open the camera live program. It is just a really simple box. You don't need to do anything.
  4. Now connect the camera to the laptop and turn it on. It should appear automatically in the 'camera live folder',. You don't need to click anything. This just confirms that it is connected and functioning
  5. Next, install the 'CamTwist' software. Open the main file. Then in the folder right click (2-finger click) the 'camtwist.pkg' file. Then select 'open with' and 'installer (default)'. You will see a warning, don't worry its ok. Click open. Proceed with installation.
  6. Open the CamTwist software and follow my instructions in the picture below
  7. Note, if 'CamTwist' opens with a window called 'cam twist studio' you can just close it. If you want to see a preview of what it looks like, when in camtwist, click on 'View' in the top bar and then 'preview'. It just gives a small preview window to help line things up. I think its better to just use Zoom to preview.
  8. You will need to change the setting in Camtwist, particularly the selected maximum resolution.

I'd be interested to know if this still works. I have an M6ii now so don't need this workaround.
