I have EOS M3, M6 and M50, all of them are 24 MP, no camera with 20 MP sensor can be considered an upgrade from any of them, no matter how good it is, the pixels aren't there.

I've always found it interesting that the flagship camera, not just of Canon, but of Nikon and Sony also, has fewer pixels than the mid range models.

Now we have a mid range model that has this lower MP sensor.

I suppose that a pro who shoots JPEG and has to get his pictures in as quickly as possible doesn't need more pixels. He frames and adjusts everything in camera and is done.

Of course, many landscape and architectural photos need as much detail as you can get.

General purpose camera has to be useful for landscapes.

A theoretical advantage of a lower MP sensor is speed. But this one is no faster than the 45 MP R5. That's interesting.

I would remotely reconsider if R6 where around $1000 with lens.

Just on the basis of cost alone Sony is looking better and better everyday.

I think the RF system still looks great. Not being an action shooter, I'm very happy with the original R. I would take the R5 over the R6, but I see no reason to spend the money on them now. Maybe I'll buy another R to replace my old 6D as my second camera.

The new lenses are outstanding. I want them all, but I am still getting the results I want from my mostly EF collection.

From my point of view, Canon is quickly losing the status as the brand with the best bang for the buck
