Pentax k1 has a built in Astro Tracer

What would be your ideal lens on this Pentax for astro photography, and what for wide-angle landscape photography?

I chose the Irix 2.4 15mm. Very usable for both purposes. You need a wide angle lens, and this one gave me the best price/performance imho. You don't need AF in such a lens. Samyang could also be a candidate.

You could also look at the second hand market of course for one of the golden oldies of Pentax.

That is a very nice picture and a lot of detail is available both in the dark and in the light areas.

I would love to be able to compare the Pentax directly with my M5, shooting similar photos in same situations with high contrast and challenging light, and I'd love to see the output at high ISO.

However, I'm looking for a camera which will complement my M5 while allowing to keep using my EF mount lenses with an adapter ring.

It looks like the Pentax DSLR will not allow that.

If Pentrax would bring out a mirrorless with a different mount, then perhaps...

I'm not in a hurry to buy a new camera already so they have time.

You are right. I had to invest in a new system. Pentax and Canon EOS-M are two different worlds. I keep the M6 for the occasion that I want a light and relative small system.
