You are giving up two stops of light. More noise, less effective resolution (images will appear less sharp), some DR and color depth.

In bright light or in situations where a long shutter speed can be used, the noise wouldn't be evident. In difficult situations it will be.

I've saw here someone posted some pics for a review for Panasonic 100-300. With E-M5 II, even at base ISO, when zoomed in 100% the images looked horrible. Lots of noise, details were smudged, colors crushed.

But when zoomed out 10%, it isn't visible, so the pics might be usable on Internet forums or other low res scenarios.
