Pretend for a second you own a 5DIV and EOS R, and need to sell one of them to fund the R5. You can only sell one of them because you need 2 bodies at all times. Let's also pretend you own the following lenses:
35L II
85L 1.4
Sigma 50 1.4 Art
Canon 100 Macro L
EF 24-70 II
RF 70-200 2.8
Maybe there is some combination of lenses to sell/buy to further defray the cost of a R5, while not losing lens coverage. Subject matter is mostly weddings and portraits. Post ideas in the comments! Thanks.
Love everything you have. But I'd sell the 5D4 (even though it's the best all around DSLR ever), sell the 35/LII, 50/1.4A and 24-70/LII. Replace all of that with the RF28-70/2L. I love the way it renders and it is just so flexible for weddings and the like.
Also, do you even need the macro anymore with the close focus capability of the RF70-200/2.8LIS? Maybe you do for rings but the zoom comes pretty close to giving you what you need.
I think the EF85/1.4LIS is fantastic too. Someday you can always consider either the new F2 version or go all the way for the beast RF85/1.2L. It's a defining lens for the RF system.
Oof, the 28-70 just seems like a beast. Have you used it? I imagine it's a bit like shooting with a 70-200 all day long. But yeah, not having to change lenses on one of my cameras sounds really nice.
I've been thinking the 100 Macro is the one pulling its weight the least- and yet, I need it for rings and close ups. Maybe getting some extension tubes would replace it.
I hope the RF 85 f/2 is a home run. It will be tough moving from an L 1.4 to a non-L f2, but with macro ability, smaller size and maybe cheaper it might be a good move in the future. But that would depend on the magnification, which I doubt is going to be 1:1.
