Pretend for a second you own a 5DIV and EOS R, and need to sell one of them to fund the R5. You can only sell one of them because you need 2 bodies at all times. Let's also pretend you own the following lenses:
35L II
85L 1.4
Sigma 50 1.4 Art
Canon 100 Macro L
EF 24-70 II
RF 70-200 2.8
Maybe there is some combination of lenses to sell/buy to further defray the cost of a R5, while not losing lens coverage. Subject matter is mostly weddings and portraits. Post ideas in the comments! Thanks.
i don't know, if it was me, i'd definitely keep the 5D4 and let the R go if you are planning to get the R5, and here is why: depends on the condition of your 5D4, you are not gonna get that much money for it, so why not keep it for a long long time and you have those lenses that could use with either for mat! i know i'll hang on to my 1dmk4, 1Dx, and 5DsR for as long as they work, simply because i have to many EF "L" lenses to get rid of them. i don't see any logic in get rid of my dslrs and EF lenses because i know i have to take a huge hit when i sell them. i know people are parroting saying: but the MLC is the future, or canon is gonna support dslrs, or sheits like that, so what does that really mean except for hype? your 5D4 will work for a long time to come and enjoy it while you have it.
but it is all up to you and how you feel about it--i rather have tools of both formats to break the monotony. i would imagine you'll be bored with R camera next year by this time, assuming you are getting a R5! unless you are the kind who needs to change format and manufacturer every 6 months to find that imaginary "perfect" camera and then back to canon a couple of years if you come to this forum often enough, you do see those guys often enough and i find it quite interesting. at the end, it all comes downe to your decision, it is your money, after all. my 2 cents, YMMV.
I've had a Canon since the 20D. Which I guess is one reason I'd be reluctant to not own a DSLR at all. It's a tough choice.
