This DPR review had compared similar features across various brands

https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicdmcgx1/14

Name of this equivalent feature:

  • Panasonic = iDynamic
  • Olympus = Gradation
  • Samsung = Smart Range
  • Sony = DRO (Dynamic Range Optimizer)
  • Nikon = Active D-Lighting
  • Fuji = DR100 etc
  • Canon = ALO (Auto Light Optimiser?)
  • Pentax = Highlight DR

This should not been something new. As per the manuals stored on my computer, the G3/GF3 etc 2011 models started to incorporate iDynamic already.

Wish the above would be helpful.
