Anyone who owns a bigger telephoto lens but also owns a 70-300?

If so do you still use the 70-300 often?

I am curious cause with all the budget telephoto lenses that go over 300mm, ie Tamron and Sigma 100-400, is owning a 70-300 almost redundant if you don't mind little more weight for the 100-400?

Back then I remember 70-300 is the go to inexpensive telephoto zoom lens. My first AF telephoto zoom lens is the Sigma 70-300 DG Macro.

But now, just based on number of reviews and videos on the 100-400 vs say the Canon 70-300mm nano USM II, the Tamron and Sigma 100-400 get way more contents. Just the new DN version of the Sigma 100-400 probably has more reviews than the Canon 70-300 II.

This lead me to think, maybe the 100-400 is like the new 70-300 from back in the days?
