I've never had an issue with autofocus with any EF lens I have with my EOS R. Even my ancient EF 70-210mm and EF 24-85mm are extremely accurate, and they're both from the early 90s.

The AF points are not crosspoint though, they are vertical. This means it can get confused if there is a lot of horizontal information within the focus point. Since the focus chart is made for DSLRs with crosspoint AF points, I can see why it could cause problems.

The AF box isn't single point either since each AF point is literally per pixel for most of the frame - likely it would be a multitude of them used at the same time. This can cause certain issues that can cause focus issues, which is repeatable and consistent.

(either that or the lens is just broken or you're using a bad adapter)
