Another slightly simpler way is to use wushowhide.diagcab. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/3073930/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-driver-update-from-reinstalling-in-window. The download link is at the bottom - "Download the troubleshooter".

This enables you to suppress the download of specific drivers.
