For me, I make whatever corrections I see necessary to a duplicate of the original in Adobe Camera Raw before tackling the colour addition on individual layers. With this method, your original remains unchanged and can be referred to at any time.

I was more referring to cracks and scratches. Before of after colour?

I find it easier to make any repairs before adding colour. This way, you are not concerned with mismatching colour shades, saturation, etc.

From what I see here it doesn’t really matters.

It's just easier.

I could (will) work for hours just on the scratches.

Once you have experience with the variety of tools available in PS and Camera Raw, repairs come easier. Quicker too.
