The S5 Pro is notoriously soft coming out of Hyper Utility unsharpened. What sharpening process are you using to sharpen?

Although the question wasn't addressed to me I'll share my opinion, maybe others find it useful - I use HU3 merely as a raw converter to tiff then all the post processing (if needed) is done in Photoshop. For sharpening - change the image mode to 'Lab' and then select only the 'Lightness' channel. Then apply your favourite sharpening method 'smart sharpen' or ' unsharp mask' and after that switch back to 'RGB' image mode. Going through Lab/Lightness reduces the artifacts generated by the sharpening process. This method was recommended by some 'Fuji S5 veterans' and it seems to do a good job, I always use it.

Thanks, Bob. That’s basically what I do as well (HU3 to TIFF then LAB mode to sharpen).

I am interested in specifically what settings others are using to sharpen with. Personally I’ve been using Smart Sharpen (100/1/10) but hoping that Neil has found an alternative method.

Personally I’m looking to emulate the sharpening level that HU3 delivers via its “Hard” sharpening setting, but with fewer artifacts.
