I think the 5DMk4 probably uses more power than older cameras. I certainly got much better battery life with a 7DMk1 when using Canon or clone batteries than I do with the 5DMk4.

Thanks David.  I'm going to try new 3rd party batteries & return if they don't work as described.  No way will I shell out for genuine ones.
