sony HX 400V or Nicon P950 for wildlife photography?
Jun 27, 2020
Hello,
I am visually impaired, but love wildlife photography. I would like some advice on which of the following is better:
Sony `hX 400 V or Nicon P950
I am attracted to the zoom of the Nicon, but have heard mixed results on the following. about the Nicon P950
HX 400 V:
I have used the HX two generations before this 400 V so I can guess how it is in the field. These are my questions:
1. How does the HX 400 V perform compared to the P950 in terms of low light i.e. twilight and night and how does it compare in terms of resolution?
2. Does the hX 400 V or P950 have sharper images?
3. Does the HX 400V or P950 have a better view finder? This is especially important because my already limited sight.
P950:
I have never used this camera, but have heard a lot of positive things about it. A fellow bird watcher actually looked at my old Sony HX and said I should get this Nicon, so your advice and knawledge will be very much appreciated. Here are my questions.
1. That it does not perform in low light: I tend no to shoot in late twilight or night, but being in Wales, I do shoot during overcast and cloudy days. Would these light conditions be a problem with the P950?
2. Although I tend to shoot macro and animals, I sometimes shoot landscape as well. How does the P950 perform with landscapes?
3. I have heard mixed results on the camera being heavy. Is this true? I have held a Sony RX 1 IV and found it a bit heavy for me, but I understand that the P950 is almost half the weight of the RX 10 IV. How does the P950 feel while free shooting?
4. I've head that high ISO such as 1600 and above is a problem. In the past I tend to shoot around 1250 and 1600. I also use 1600 ISO and above when using a fast shutter-speed. Any tips to connect with this limitation? Or have you found shooting at 4000 shutter-speed and 800 ISO as seems to be the limitation actually not affecting the quality of your shots too much?
Thank you so much for your help. I hope someone wouldn't mind helping me. I am also sorry about the amount of questions. I new to photography and want to learn
