That’s not a crop, exactly the same diagonal as the standard 4:3 sensor at about 21.5mm.

If they want to juice up the sensor options to better support video but maintain stills then they should go with a multi-aspect sensor like the GH2 had which supported 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9 all at the standard diagonal. But again do it like they did with the GH2 using a slightly oversized sensor to maintain the standard diagonal at all aspect ratios.

And if doing for video design the sensor and processing chain to do video without a further crop of the sensor due to readout limitations.
