Not really, Both Sony's and Canon's batteries are as big as the new Fuji batteries yet their grips are smaller.

If you want to go into details, the VG-XT4 has the batteries oriented differently than the VG-XT3. The batteries are oriented with the label pointed forward/back, compared to the up/down on the VG-XT3. I don't know why they decided to do this, but it was probably because they wanted to keep the actual grip area to a specific size. They could have used the same layout as the older models, but the area you wrap your fingers around would have become larger. Again, larger battery = larger grip.

Yes, I do see the rotated them 90 degrees the way the designed the tray. Strange it seems. None of the others have taken that approach. Curious what the benefit is and the trade-offs they were making.
