I find it very handy for taking pictures of stuff to sell on ebay or going to the beach for that matter. I am way to poor to risk taking a pricey lens to the beach.

100% ,,,,, and OK all round too - if you shoot RAW it can scavenge lots of fine detail too (see the above examples at 100%) ,

its weak spot is edges (at least at F5.6 and smaller at the wide end)and sample variation , this one is usable through the zoom, some are soft at 45mm, some have edges like a Holga . whether there are ones which are both sharp at 45mm AND have good edges at the wide end is another matter , I`ve not used enough of them to find out ...

I've got 4 of them that are all pretty decent - not as good at 45 as 15, but nothing to complain about. And I do try to stop them down at least one stop at 45mm. I use L lenses and a selection of FF cameras for work and some of my personal stuff, so I consider my standards of acceptability to be reasonable.
Now I've had 3 18-55 EF-Ms, and none of them were very good - one is OK, but needs stopping down to sharpen up the edges at all.

the lens is also very fussy about where a landscape is focussed for edged and if the IS unit has settled down (Both can cause blurry edges)

Yup. When I've had poor results, it's usually for these reasons, which I class as user error, because I know about them in advance.
