Don, there are plenty of folk who think they can prove otherwise ... ie. that sensor size has everything to do w/ the retention of DR at hi ISO, and that (physically larger pixels offer no true benefits to light gathering

I would agree on the 1st idea, but am agnostic re the 2nd

People don't understand that DR is measured at an 8MP downscaled equivalent.

A 47MP FF sensor has no higher DR at a pixel level than a 20MP APS-C sensor.

But it still has higher total DR, since you have 2.25 times the data when downscaling. It's the same with noise. Pixel noise doesn't matter, total noise does
