Last Friday while cycling I noticed there was a furry of activity in the harbor. It was one of those rides where I just happened to have packed the V1 in my fanny pack. At first I thought it was a large scale search and rescue exercise. Later I found out they were searching for a mariner from a Hong Kong flagged bulker, Pilatus Venture, had gone overboard while the vessel was moored. Tragically, the search was unsuccessful; a reminder that searfaring remains one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.

"No matter how elegant the subject, an image requires something more than a literal recording of that scene. It needs a moment a gesture or light or color to add that third dimension and make it memorable." - Annie Griffiths
