My NX1 comes out to play in our gardens

NOTE - EDITED: One more NX-1 image added.

While most of Spring this year has been mostly "Stay at Home", there has been plenty of time to work in our gardens. And I have created a Gallery of "portraits" of the flora and fauna that surrounds our home. Most of the 50 images of Spring have been with my main camera, the Sony full frame 60mp A7R IV, with others from my Canon M5. But now with the change in seasons to Summer, I decided to change my camera to my Samsung NX-1 with the 60mm Macro lens.

So here are some results from the first week of Summer with the NX-1 (all downsized for posting):

Cana Lilies bloom among Yellow Day Lilies

The first Day Lilies of Summer

Arizona Red Shades Blanket Flowers

The first Gardenia of Summer

A 5mm Hoverfly in the late afternoon sun.

A 10mm baby Grasshopper that could easily fit on my fingernail. I had to follow it as it moved away from me, requiring upping the shutter speed and losing a little DOF.

Edit -New Image: A 14mm Baby Praying Mantis

I had not used my NX-1 much this year, so it took some practice to become acquainted with it again. Like riding a bicycle, it did come back to me, and became all so familiar. The camera was a masterpiece for its time, is still right up there, and I will enjoy using it. But it has finally definitely been eclipsed by the current masterpiece of it time, the Sony A7R IV. The R IV is without a doubt the best camera I have ever worked with in 60 years of using a lot of cameras. The fact that you can set it up to exactly conform to your shooting workflow is a big thing, but then that it produces with hardly a hiccup seals the deal. Taking images like these from the Gallery becomes almost too easy:

A female hummingbird approaches Honeysuckle in our gardens . . .

. . . and finds her breakfast.

Yes, you do have to learn to use the camera to get these results on que. But once you do, you expect to get these results.

I feel like I have an embarrassment of riches in being able to use all three of my main current cameras. I don't even pay attention to rumors or announcements of new cameras anymore. And I'm glad I can share my work with the NX-1 (and sometimes the others) with you on this forum.

If you would like to see the whole 2020 Gardens Gallery so far (all above images are in it at the end), you can find the Gallery here .

Thanks for looking. Comments or questions are always welcome.
