But why Canon introduced what is, in effect, a high-end, lightweight camera without supporting it with a high quality dedicated lens range is beyond me.

The M6-II was simply an addition to a range of cameras which existed, Yes there ought to be a Midrange standard zoom now in the system (15-60 F4 or whatever - should have come in with the M3 IMO ) but unfortunately canon decided not to create one, they also decided not to do an M5 Mk2 with the built in EVF (& even IBIS)  which many wanted and for some bizarre reason decided not to put the Electronic First curtain feature in the M6-II either despite full mechanical causing shock issues with the 15-40`s IS system ........ they made their choices and so do we when deciding on a camera ...

An M5-II + 15-60 F4 kit would please a lot of people , others would still get the M6-II  because of its size which IMO ought to be kitted with the 22mm , perfect match
