You will need to have an FTZ between the lens and camera. Get a Peak Design Capture plate and put that on the FTZ and attach the anchors to it (they will not preclude using a tripod) and a Slide-Light strap.

The 500 PF weighs 1,460 grams. From Nikon, re the FTZ adapter:

Good catch.  That's what I do with my 200-500.  I was not aware that the weight of the 500mm was that much.
