Personally i find the biggest downside of the 11-22mm it only goes to 22mm, and you need to change lenses to get to 32/35mm. Not having this in one lens means a lot of lens changes for me.

Actually I would like it to go even wider on the wide end as well...

And indeed also go to 32/35mm or something like that.

Not likely to happen, but well, one can dream!

Sorry to pop your balloon, but it is actually ‘never’ going to happen.

Working within the constraints of the M System (ie. size, weight, and cost limitations), a design such as that would compromise all that makes the current 11-22 so good. In fact, even if the artificial constraints were lifted to some degree, there would still be too many design compromises in the end product to keep all the (different) users happy. What areas would you be willing to give up? Corners? Sharpness? Bokeh? Compactness? Cost? Contrast? Focusing speed? Close focusing? Add more Distortion? Flare? CA? Veiling glare? Halation?...

As you can see, unlike some of the other lenses on folks’ wish lists, this one has a lot more obstacles in its way than simple lack of will. I think Canon really did hit the sweet spot here with the 11-22 already.

One suggestion I might make, is simply to shoot with a second body. They’re certainly small enough nowadays!

Happy shooting!
