Any consideration of adding an autofocus lens to your kit around this focal length (and I do mean *adding*, not replacing, as the Zeiss is really, really good) has to involve discussing the Sigma 40/1.4 Art. It is an *outstanding* lens, a reference piece. Absolutely and ridiculously huge and heavy (it's bigger than my 25/1..4 Milvus), but optically, it's out of this world. Can be used for any task at any distance and it just excels.

I'd also add that if you're stuck on 35mm as a focal length, like the other posters have mentioned, take a serious look at the Tamron 35/1.4 for sure.

As a personal note, ever since getting the 40 art, my 35 and 50 arts sit on the shelf collecting dust, and those are both really good lenses. The 40 is just better.
