If I can't travel out of the country to dive, I may be too old - or dead - before I get the opportunity again. I admit my outlook on the future is influenced by watching my seemingly-invincible wife's health collapse overnight when the effects of pancreatic cancer provided the first symptoms. A lot can/will happen in four years.

Reading through this topic, I see that you have enjoyed diving far longer than many of your fellow seniors.  I have wonderful memories of diving and used to joke that I missed the 70s since I was underwater at the time.  By the mid 80s, my diving opportunities were few and far between.  From the mid to late 80s, with multiple trips to Hawaii, I switched to snorkeling (no one else with me certified for SCUBA).  At some point, I was able to rent an underwater film camera, which gave me a tiny glimpse into the joy of underwater photography.  The camera was pretty basic and there was plenty of light with crystal clear visibility and depth varying from 10 to 20 feet.

Even if you never get back to diving, you still have fresh memories while mine are decades old.  Not letting age get in the way of your diving enjoyment reminds me of a one time work colleague who was fond of saying "I want to wear out not rust out".
